Hi there, I’m Ella:) As a 26 yr old who has been babysitting for the past 12 years, I have not only become well acquainted with children but have found that I really love spending time with children. The older I get, the more connected I feel to teaching, guiding, and helping children to learn, believe in themselves, and feel comfortable in the world they live in. I’ve cared for all ages of children from newborn to age 12, so I’ve done it all, the bottle feeding, the burping, the potty training, the terrible twos, the breaking up fights, picking the kids up from school, violin practice, and the bad-day at school de-escalations. Most recently, I nannied for a family of 3 children (2, 5, 9) and spent a lot of time playing outdoors, making healthy recipes, reading, visiting the children’s museum, doing crafts. The kids went to an arts and trades focused school so we spent a lot of time doing sensory things like learning how to knit and identifying plants. I’ve certainly adopted that approach in my care and try to spend as minimal time as possible with screens. I also love to have fun and as an artist and fashion designer myself, I think it’s so important for kids to explore and be creative. I love crafts and making up songs and stories and allowing kids to be silly. However, at the end of the day, structure does make a child feel safe, so I create an environment where there is freedom within a schedule. I graduated with a degree in psychology and neuroscience, so I also know a bit about child developmental stages and mental/ emotional needs of children at different stages and ages. At the end of the day, I’m very intuitive and a nurturer at heart, which makes caring for kids enjoying and fulfilling for everyone.
