My name is Sheyby Jimenez, a graduate student from Mount Saint Mary’s University who double majored in Child Development and Psychology. I’m a certified Lifeguard/ CPR/AED/First Aid through the American Red Cross. I have worked for seven years as a lifeguard and swim instructor teaching ages six months to 14 years old of age.
I aspire in the future to teach children and enjoy doing my best. Helping children develop and learn different communication, physical, logical, and emotional skills is highly rewarding, as I could see their improvements and new skills. An excellent foundation for every childs development is vital for reaching the next level. My experience working with children has developed my leadership skills, initiative, activeness, organization, and especially time management. While completing my practicum, I assisted a teacher where I conducted Desired Results Developmental Profile and planned lesson plans for a kindergarten classroom where I was able to learn and identify the learning objectives for each child and different accommodations needed to support a child’s development.
As I have gained insight into various ages through my work, I have learned that I would love to work with younger children. I would want to enhance quality learning, support, engage the community, and maintain and improve the well-being of children and families. My proactiveness and desire to pursue a masters in childrens education reflects my motivation and ambition as a potential future educator.
