Hello families! My name is Anna Riggins and I love providing a safe space of care, encouragement, growth, and exploration for curious kiddos! I value leading with an empathetic and educational spirit where every situation, positive or negative, can be a learning experience. I am passionate about the arts, music, biking, running, baking, and spending time with the people I love. I grew up in a small town in Western Illinois, moved to Boston to get my BFA in Theatre Arts from Boston University, and am newly a NYC resident! My experience with childcare began when I was 15 years old as a baby sitter for a family with 3 kids ranging from 3-8. I drove the children to and from practices/appointments, prepped meals, undertook light housework, and created lots of fun making up little movies and games to play. Then I spent an entire summer working as a resident camp counselor at a YMCA camp. That’s 24/7 care on top of being camp medic, lifeguard, activity planner, and unofficial child tween therapis. I mostly worked with 9 – 14 year olds at camp, but we had kids ranging from 5-15. For the past summer, I worked full time at a daycare/preschool called Everbrook Academy. I spent most of my time with infants ages 5m-15m. At Everbrook, I would care for 7 infants, with 7 different feeding, napping, and diapering schedules every day. It was beautiful, organized, specifically catered, chaos. I quickly became very comfortable and confident with caring for the cute little ones! I also enjoyed working with the toddlers-preschoolers and teaching the children how to read, count, use their imagination, and regulate their emotions. I am always blown away by how smart, curious, and imaginative, children are. I hope to learn just as much from them as I am able to teach them. The most important thing to me as a caregiver is that the children feel safe and empowered to be themselves and pursue their curiosities with joy and vigor!
