I’ve been in the New York area for 3 years, and I currently reside in Astoria. My background here has been in the television/film industry and I’m currently working part time from home. I’d love to supplement my income by working with you and your children 2-3 days each week. Early mornings and late evenings are not a problem for me.
I have always loved being around children, and when I was not babysitting in high school, I was volunteering to teach local classes to high schoolers and game time for preschoolers. In college, I was hired by the local Methodist church to care for children ages 0-2 for 3 hours on Sundays and occaisional weekday activities. In the nursery, I was charged with coming up with fun activities, snacktime, and keeping the peace between 4-6 children.
I follow the rules outlined by the parents, however I also try to make sure the children I’m watching don’t have too many sweets and don’t sit around all night. It’s always more fun to play with kids than it is to put them in front of the tv for a few hours. Walking to parks, creating crafts, and other fun activities are preferred.
Most recently I’ve been helping out with 6 months-1 year, though most of my experience has been with older children ages 2-10.
