Growing up in a single parent household I quickly learned to take on responsibilities at home. Since 7th grade I was responsible for my younger brother, cooking, and cleaning the house. After graduating from high school in Ecuador (my home country) I came to the US to attend college and recently graduated with a major in Biochemistry. Now I am working for Brigham and Women’s Hospital as a Research Assistant and hopefully will attend medical school in 2 years. I love science, but also running, being outdoors, and drawing.
Being a dual citizen has given me the opportunity to work in the U.S. This past summer I was a bilingual (English/Spanish) recruiter for the Maine Migrant Education Program. My role involved signing up migrant students for educational services to diminish any academic disruption they have experience. Through this job and past experiences as a tutor in college, I discovered a passion in teaching/speaking my native language (Spanish) and being an emotional as well as mental support for young people. I am thrilled to be working with families and helping them with their children, while having fun and fostering their learning!
