As an older sister to three younger siblings, I feel as though Ive had the most hands-on childcare experience possible for my age! Im 10 years older than my youngest sister, so I practically helped my mom raise her. Family has been one of the most central aspects of my life since childhood, and especially combined with my Middle-Eastern culture (which is BIG on warmth & nurturing!) I feel like Ive just always worked well with kids. I worked as an assistant teacher to 3rd-grade students at a Sunday school in my hometown in NJ a few years ago; my job was mainly to keep an eye on all the kids and keep them on task (while also being fun enough to keep them entertained! Not the easiest task) Although that was my only formal experience in childcare, it reminded me so much of why I always wanted to and loved working with kids – being able to directly make their childhood experience even just a tiny bit more joyful!
