I love being a sitter because it allows me to provide direct, one-on-one care to children who need close observation and support. Its a meaningful role where I can ensure patient safety, especially for those at risk for falls, confusion, or self-harm. I genuinely enjoy building rapport with patients, offering comfort, and being a calming presence. It also gives me the opportunity to observe different patient behaviors and conditions, which helps me grow as a future nurse.

What experience do you have?
As a nursing student, Ive completed clinical rotations in medical-surgical, pediatric, and obstetric settings, where Ive worked closely with diverse patient populations. Ive provided personal care, taken vital signs, assisted with feeding, ambulation, and documentation. Ive also cared for patients with cognitive impairments and have experience de-escalating situations using therapeutic communication. In addition, Ive observed and supported sitters during clinical, which gave me insight into how important and impactful the role is.

What skills and training do you have?
Im BLS certified and trained in recognizing and responding to cardiac and respiratory emergencies. I have strong observational skills, basic patient care techniques, and effective communication abilities. My clinical experience has strengthened my ability to stay calm under pressure, follow safety protocols, and collaborate with the healthcare team. I also understand how to maintain patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while ensuring their safety at all times.
