Being raised as one of eight children and aunt to more than twenty nieces and nephews (and now grand-nieces and nephews), I basically grew up taking care of babies. In fact, my first job at eleven years old was babysitter for my neighbor – an ongoing job until I graduated high school. I also was a camp counselor for three years, leading the same group of children from four to six years old. While I haven’t been paid for childcare in quite some time, it is something I do on a regular basis for family, and is a skill ingrained in me for life.
