Hi! My name is Maren, and I am a 24 year old graduate student studying social work and UPenn! Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, I have spent most of my adult life working with children in some capacity. Between holding a consistent babysitting/nannying job with one family throughout all of college, to working in the public schools with elementary and middle school children for the past two years, I have a breadth of experience with children and their families. I studied English in college, and love reading, writing, and creativity, which I always look to incorporate into activities with kids! I am CPR certified, and worked as a tutor in English and Math in a 7/8th classroom for two years. I have been trained in formative and productive play by Playworks, an AmeriCorps program that incorporates active play into learning during the school day. For the past year, I have been managing a team of 7 AmeriCorps members working as tutors in a public school, so I am not only well-versed in multitasking, I am also very proficient in conflict management, and creative solutions, two thing vital to working with kids and adults alike. I hope to earn a social work degree with a focus on child-centered practice, as young people are what I am most passionate about! I would love to meet you and your family!
