Hello!
I’m Veronica, a senior political science major at Widener University. I have been working with children for about seven years. I adore being around young and growing minds.
I have all three clearances in Pennsylvania to teach; FBI Clearance of January 2020, Criminal Record Check of January 2020 and June 2017, and Child Abuse History of June 2017. They each need to be renewed after five years. I also have my CPR/First Aid certification of June 2016.
My first experience started while performing in Upper Darby Summer Stage (https://www.udpac.org/summerstage/). There is a baby sitting program, where performers apart of their scholarship take care, entertain, and play with infants to toddlers that cannot sit through a performance.
I furthered my child work at Upper Darby Community Outreach Corporation with their summer day camp. For two years, I was a high school camp counselor with seven to nine year olds—going on field trips to museums, swimming pools, and amusement parks. When not on field trips, each of the camp counselors had a specific subject to educate and interact with the campers. I taught history and anything along the lines as social studies. I absolutely love social studies and the history that comes along with it, so it was absolutely wonderful to share it with young, growing, and very intuitive minds.
I later created a historical, social, and political awareness club called #StayWoke my junior year in high school. I gave presentations and facilitated conversations between about fifty to sixty student every week about social and political taboos" of society, and maintained a safe and respectful environment during these discussions and conversations. #StayWoke continued through my first semester in college with the Havertownship Free Library with student ranging in age from eleven years old to seventeen years old.
I started teaching percussion to the Penn Wood High School marching band’s front ensemble my second semester of my freshman year in college. I provided musical instruction to front ensemble of the Marching Band for the purpose of learning musical selections for performance, and assisted in instructing members in fundamental and advanced percussion techniques. I applied sound teaching principles throughout the teaching process, and executed rehearsal plans provided by the Marching Band Director. I furthered my teaching and now work with the front ensemble with the Ridley High School Indoor Drumline.
