Some children come to us already displaying these violent and abusive behaviors in school and on the playground. The results may be suspensions or expulsions from school dating violence and/or pre-delinquent and delinquent behavior and of course domestic violence acted out on family members.
Our experience has shown us that these children may often experience physical mental and emotional distress that may be manifested in poor school performance physical ailments loss of appetite anger sleep deprivation and deep depression. All of these effects conspire to weaken the childs learning ability and attention span in school as well as adversely affect his or her sense of self-confidence.

Children may have little or no understanding of the dynamics of violence. Often their assumption is that violence is the norm because of what they have experienced. Many blame themselves for the violence around them. They may not recognize power and control as being related to abusive behaviors. Subsequently they may be using violence to address their own problems failing to use alternative problem solving.
