The Montessori Schools Primary Program is for children between the ages of 2 and 6 with children typically entering the program between the ages of 2 and 3 . These classrooms are designed based upon Maria Montessoris observations of childrens developmental needs at these ages and their natural tendencies toward self-motivation relationship with others mastery of their environment and independence.
The Prepared Environment the teacher and the exquisitely attuned sensitivities of the child together produce a community of self-sufficient curious and joyful children who eagerly participate in their education. The classroom is divided into four main areas: Practical Life Sensorial Language and Mathematics. Grace and Courtesy and the cultural subjects of art science foreign language geography and biology are infused throughout.

Both in philosophy and pedagogy our program is based on the scientific research of Dr. Maria Montessori our AMI Montesori training and the tenets of universal human development. Dr. Montessori provided the inspiration and our model. We refer to her vision and teachings at all times.
Classrooms are designed for mixed ages allowing for both individual and social development. There is much space for movement with work areas throughout the rooms and materials openly displayed and available on accessible shelving. These environments empower students to become proactive participants in their learning. Most lessons are given to small groups or indiviudal children while Montessori pedagogy and practice includes the use of Montessori materials charts timelines treasures and artifacts from the wealth of cultures around the world and the great outdoors. Our curriculum is broad-based and interdisciplinary.
