McDonough Street Head Start a

Federally Funded Early Child Development program

has provided educational services to children and

families in the Bedford Stuyvesant community.

Currently our facility which is located at 813 Hancock

Street in Brooklyn has 8 classrooms and 7 offices.

Thirty three (33) caring and qualified staff members

are entrusted with the lives of 140 Head Start

children 3-4 years of age five (5) days a week from

8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Our Board of Directors which has been incorporated

since 1965 has worked hard to maintain an excellent

track record. They clearly understand their fiduciary

and programmatic responsibilities as custodians of our

Federal Grant.

In 1997 and 2002 The Federal Government sited

McDonough Street as an Excellent Head Start Program.

In 2006 we passed another Federal Review however in 2009 our monitoring report was exceptional. Our intention and goal is to continue raising the bar of excellence in early child development.
