September 2011 marked our third year of 123abc Little Learners’ Academy grand opening in Manassas Park, Virginia. We have recently completed our final phase of development and reached our school’s full capacity. We have grown quietly from 2 precious babies, due to personal family referrals and word-of-mouth. We are proud to have our local public school administrators and teachers children enrolled in our classrooms. Our little school is the best kept secret in Manassas.

Children learn through playing, painting, dancing, singing, feeling with their hands, and imagining. To teach young children it takes more than carefully thought out worksheets or one size fits all that most day care preschools provide; it takes teaching with all the senses. at 123abc Little Learners’ Academy the children have a traditional classroom setting and play learning zones. The children are in motion mentally and physically. The main classroom teachers pull small groups of children from the play zones into the classroom for direct instruction following the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) for Kindergarten: Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, Science, as well as, Handwriting Without Tears. Private PreK and Kinder is from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm. We eat lunch family style – having enjoyable conversation during the meal while teaching proper manners. During classroom time the children are sorted into small learning groups based on skill levels and personality, not necessarily age to maximize learning opportunities. Below is an example of how children were taught during one day over two 20-30 minute sessions in the classroom. In between those two sessions they played in the center learning zones, went outside to the playground, attended sign language class, attended Spanish language class, and had a snack. There are no televisions and very few chairs at our preschool….at 123abc Little Learners’ Academy learning is a living experience and we are all in motion.
