Purpose of GSLS Preschool

Welcome to one of the most incredible years your child will have in his/her school career! Preschool is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions as well as one in which acquisition of new skills and challenges will be faced.

During preschool your child will learn their ABCs shapes colors character education manners patterns address write their names and much more. I hope to make your child’s first years of school fun and exciting while instilling a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s years of schooling.

So much happens in preschool! Because of this children as well as parents can be apprehensive about what will happen. It is extremely important to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his/her own rate acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready. Maintaining each child’s self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our preschool.

Here are some ways you can help:

*Just a few things that will help your child to adjust are a backpack a pocket folder with your childs name on it for take home papers a one inch binder and an extra set of clothes including underwear pants shirt and socks. These will stay in your childs backpack in the event that they are needed so be sure they are kept in the backpack.

*Celebrate each of your child’s successes no matter how small they may seem. This will keep your child enthusiastic about learning and proud of their work.

*Look for and read your child’s newsletters. They will contain important information for the next week along with exciting events from the previous week homework and helpful reminders.

*Read to and with your child every day. The more your child is exposed to language the easier it will be for him/her to incorporate new skills in reading and writing in the classroom.
