At UM Canterbury Preschool our philosophy is that children learn by playing. We provide our preschoolers with a variety of learning opportunities that will strenghthen their cognitivesocial emotional creative and physical skills.Our goal is to provide a safe healthy and appropriate learning environment for our children.
Our curriculum is carefully selected for each age and the developmental needs of our students. Our integrated curriculum incorporates language math science creative arts music motor skills and social development.Through daily routines and activities teachers encourage our children to develop a positive self-image and independence.

UM Canterbury Preschool is a non-profit campus children’s center committed to providing high quality care and excellent early childhood educational programs for young children aged 2 months to 5 years. UM Canterbury Preschool believes that campus childcare should be an integral part of higher education systems. A campus childcare program should also serve as a resource in meeting the educational research and service needs of the university and the community. Childcare and developmentally appropriate practices are inseparable in a quality program for young children. A campus childcare program serves as a model and sets standards for the community regarding quality care for children in an educational setting.
