University Christian Children's Center

Preschool in Miami, FL 33143

Welcome to University Christian Childrens Center! We are celebrating our 20th
Anniversary this 2010-11 School Year! As founding director in 1990 I have seen us
begin with baby steps12 children 2 teachers and 1 assistant! And so much has
happened since then to allow us giant steps.

Hurricane Andrew was a major step backwards. That August the Education Building
roof blew off crashing into the Cottage office windows. A roofer allowed damage
to continue when he took deposit money and ran! Rain poured in and flooded the
Education Building. We were sequestered in Fellowship Hall for 9 months with plywood
for room partitions and without electricity for 2 weeks.

In 1997 the Childrens Center received our hard-earned accreditation with NAEYC and
have maintained its high standards ever since. Teachers create an environment where
your child will excel to the highest level of his ability. Collaboration between home
and school allows us to share the common goal of wanting only the best for your child.
Remember as a parent and caregiver in this school you are allowed to enter your
childs classroom anytime.

This August we were assessed by the Devereaux Groupon behalf of Quality Counts an
Early Learning Coalition rating system for all voluntarily participating childcare centers
in Miami-Dade County. Our new STAR rating should be out and available to the public
this fall to help parents and caregivers with center choices of quality! Our goal is to
achieve a 4-STAR or 5-STAR rating.
