Anchor Bay Early Childhood Center

PRESCHOOL – BEFORE/AFTER SCHOOL –
The full day program is designed for families needing child care during the day. Children in this program
participate in a structured preschool program 5 days a week. This mixed age classroom provides a structured
High/Scope educational approach to learning in the morning with the remainder of the day being filled with a
variety of supplemental activities including more socialization during free time expanded outdoor time and an
expansion of science activities and long term creative art projects. Children are served breakfast and two
snacks daily. Parents must provide a lunch. There is ample time during the day for children to play freely with
friends share a book with a teacher and to take a quiet rest or nap after lunch.
Each child is challenged and encouraged at their own developmental level. The structured daily routine provides
numerous opportunities for children to plan and retell their events of the day. Children are encouraged to use
their words to talk about conflicts and to work towards resolving difficulties or disagreements through
problem solving and compromise.
