St. Johns Preschool (Lambs Lot) is a ministry of St. Johns Lutheran Church that seeks to
partnership with parents to nurture young children in the Lord. It is to be a place and program
that will provide teachers, lessons and even play activities that bring Jesus Christ into the lives of
children. Jesus is our Lord and Savior. He is the Lamb of God. Our Preschool is built on Him.
Just as He took children into His arms and blessed them, so does Lambs Lot. Our Preschool
personnel stand in His place, dedicated to be as warm, gentle, wise and caring as He is with all of
us. Our Preschool is an additional way in which St. Johns shepherds the young of our parish
and community families. It is a building and program with structure and care that is designed to
meet the needs of todays children.
St. Johns Lutheran Church will strive to meet the challenge of the Great Commission, reaching
out to the community and the world with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and will provide a
center for spiritual growth for all its people. Empowered by the Holy Spirit, we will follow
Jesus command to love one another, showing care and concern by individual needs and will
encourage each other to grow in faith through worship, the study of Gods Word and prayer.

All who have a faith relationship of trust in Jesus Christ are commissioned by Him to preserve
and extend the Kingdom of God. This becomes the whole churchs responsibility when
Christians gather as a congregation. So it is with St. Johns Lutheran Church, which has
designated itself as a Spiritual Growth Center. Its Preschool is considered a full part of St.
Johns ministry and mission. As an important childhood and family ministry of the congregation
the Preschool helps fulfill each of St. John’s Lutheran Churchs main functions: education,
worship, evangelism, fellowship and service. Its classrooms and play areas are all spiritual
growth centers. Each persons uniqueness is recognized and individuals are helped to achieve
their full potential. Each knows that he or she is a valued, accepted and respected part of the
school community. Children are helped to grow in their prayer lives, learning to pray privately
and corporately whenever needs or opportunities arise.
At the Preschool, children always come first before planned curriculum, before rules and
before adult convenience. The goal of the program is to work with each and every childs
natural development and to support the emerging self within. We believe that learning happens
in relationships and that this happens best in relationships which are characterized by personal
respect and caring responsiveness in a Christian environment. Thus respect is carried throughout
relations between staff and children, staff and parents, and staffs relations with each other. We
believe children learn in an environment that motivates them to want to learn. We strongly
believe that curriculum is all that happens to the child while he/she is at Preschool every moment
of the day, including curriculum, play with a purpose, and all that is generated from all people
staff, parents and other children. Play with purpose is the primary vehicle for curriculum for our
three year old programs. It is the childs most valuable learning tool and is the means to selfawareness,
interactions, problem solving, acquired mastery and learning. In addition, the
Preschool strives to strengthen parents skills and their desire to have strong families.
