Community First School

Preschool in Sunnyvale, CA 94087

Community First School is a relatively new school to the city of Sunnyvale. We opened in September of 2010 and have been constantly changing and growing since. Community First School is here to assist you in your child care needs. We enroll children from 6 weeks to 12 years and create activities for them to help the children grow.

We pride ourselves in integrating the community into the classroom so that the children learn about the daily ongoing in our city as well as learn the lessons that the teacher has planned our for the children. We believe that children should grow through our programs and create the classrooms to build off of each other so that the children are prepared for their adventure through life.

Our goal is to work with the parents to create an environment that helps the children foster and learn similar to how they would at home.

We welcome parent participation in the classroom and would like families to be involved in their children’s education.

Please take a look through our website to understand more about our separate programs to see if our school is a good fit for your family. We would also like to invite you to schedule a tour with us so that you can come and see our wonderful classrooms and meet our amazing teachers.

Our staff is highly qualified in child development through education and experience. Our staff is CPR/First aid certified. We conduct background checks on each staff member prior to hiring.

Our Infant-Preschool Program operates year round. Our School Age program operates from August-June then we will have a full time Summer Program.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Philosophy Statement:

Our programs support an eclectic philosophy which include play based, high scope, emergent, discovery and developmentally appropriate practice. We believe that children in our programs will have a variety of learning opportunities that fosters each child’s development in the aspect of physical, social, mental and emotional development.

From the Food Preparer to the Directors we understand our role is to be interconnected with the children, their families and the community. We are committed to encouraging play, discovery, experimenting through carefully chosen activities along with emergent learning to have each child be an active learner. Our teachers are trained to participate as partners in the classroom, rather than as a leader.

We created a stimulating, warm, caring, home like environment that supports children’s play ideas, discovery, experimenting and creativity.

We believe that children, family and community are all connected. We are committed to keeping an open line of communication between Community First and each family that is enrolled in our program. We value family and understand how it extends to the community and we strive to have a joint working relationship.

Mission:

Our Mission is to always encourage the natural curiosity and desire to learn in each individual child.
