SCHOOL AGEPRESCHOOL

Brookfield Academys mission is to provide students with the tools that they need both academic and social to succeed at the next level of their education. Students who graduate from Brookfield are prepared for the best middle schools and high schools possessing the work habits and the confidence they need in order to do well. Brookfield employs Montessori methodology a proven system which addresses each childs individuality. Sequential steps in academic growth are carefully tested before moving ahead in any subject allowing each student to progress at their own rate.

The Brookfield Academy Troy Campus built around 1980 actually began in rented space in St. Johns Church. By 1989 the school had gone through three additions. Finally in 1992 the last addition was added: our large multi-purpose room. The Troy campus now had 9 classrooms and catered to children from 18 months olds to 12 years old. Founded by its owners they insisted on the benefits of a sound early and individualized educational program for children. Now decades later our parents are still insisting on that same education. We believe that children are born with tremendous potential and we believe this potential is realized through the right kind of environment and experiences. Helping them develop a sense of responsibility and independence. It develops good work habits a fascination with the world a desire to discover its secrets and a well-balanced integrated personality.

Since our doors opened we have strived to offer a broad meaningful education that encompasses the mind culture emotions social expertise and practical skills. Our students academic success is achieved through an individualized non-graded academic curriculum. Instruction in reading language arts mathematics science Spanish language computer science social studies history and geography is presented individually or in small groups. Our students engage in wonderful field trips including experiencing what space is like from an astronauts point of view by attending fifth grade Space Camp in Alabama for a week. Other grade level field trips include a Nature Camp trip during the third grade and a Mackinac Island in fourth grade.

Above all we shall continue to be a singularly exceptional school that provides children with the foundation for their success in life.
