Welcome and thank you for inquiring about Tucson Country Day School’s Early Childhood program. Since 1968, we have been providing exceptional and exciting programs in our Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten program that have resulted in our three and four year old children accelerating both their academic and social skills. The dedication, experience and professionalism of the staff continue to provide parents the assurance that their children are given the guidance and opportunity to become successful, mature and creative learners.

Our Beliefs

  • All children are capable learners.
  • Each childs social, emotional and problem-solving development is closely related to their overall cognitive development.
  • In the importance of formulating a partnership with parents in the care and education of their child.
  • That curriculum should be guided by developmentally, culturally and best instructional practices.
  • In providing children an inviting and comfortable learning environment.
  • That activities for children should emphasize exploration and inquiry in all learning domains listed in the Early Childhood Standards by the Arizona Department of Education.

We believe building authentic relationships with families is vital to our work with children. We strive to approach and interact with children and families with the utmost respect and support.
We encourage parents to participate through volunteering in the classrooms and school functions. We use various forms of communication such as direct contact, notes, phone calls and newsletters. Formal conferences will be scheduled during the year. Additional conferences may be held at the request of parents and/or staff.
We also encourage parent participation in the monthly Student Parent Association (SPA) meetings.
The purpose of SPA is to determine the needs of the private and charter schools, participate in fundraising opportunities and help determine allocation of funds. SPA sponsors many items and activities that benefit our private school age children. The TCDS SPA meets once per month and will provide parents with a great opportunity to get to know one another and become involved in their childs early education.
