Little Lights Child Care Center

Little Lights Learning Center is a ministry of The Lighthouse Church in Vancouver, Washington and serves families throughout the community by providing childcare, and preschool in a group setting.

All of our staff are qualified, screened and trained. Your “Little Light” is important to us, and we take great care in creating an ideal environment for their physical and emotional growth.

We offer the following programs:

• Infants (age one month and up)
• Toddlers (age 12 months and up)
• PreSchool Classrooms
• School-age Classrooms

The Center provides healthy snacks for morning and afternoon. We can talk with you about special arrangements for breakfast or lunch, depending on your schedule and your child’s needs.

Our learning center helps prepare children for Kindergarten and beyond. Preschoolers receive instruction and practice in recognizing and writing their name, as well as working on both upper and lower case alphabet letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. Children in both Toddler and Preschool classes have exposure to words and songs with sign language.

Physical activities provided help develop fine and gross motor skills. Language development and social/emotional skills include a variety of games and activities, working alone and in a group, and following directions. Cognitive development involves many areas, including the following concepts; sorting, matching, classification, sequencing, problem solving, and reasoning. Spiritual development includes Bible, stories, prayer, worship, singing, memory verses and Chapel on Thursday.

Long range themes are chosen by the children. The teachers then facilitate learning by providing a framework of activities for the children to begin with, developing them for further exploration based on child interest. Activities happen throughout the day, so whether your child attends during Preschool time or for full day child care, a wide range of experiences are available.
