Karina B. from Minneapolis, MN I was very satisfied with our first lesson. Sharon is a very interesting personality with an outstanding professional career. It was a pleasure to talk to her. She explained thinks very structured and easy to understand. I'm looking forward to improve my English: grammar and vocabulary during the short time.

Ellen H. from Saint Paul, MN Sharon is clearly a proficient speaker of Cantonese and Mandarin. Because English is her first language, she understands the difficulty English speakers, particularly older ones like myself, have in dealing with these languages and the tones so needed to speak either one. And she is very patient and creative in helping me to master them. She is teaching me key phrases in Cantonese that I'll need to meet and welcome my daughter's future Cantonese in-laws. Sharon not only prepares lessons that outline the language terms and phrases to be learned but also provides the cultural context so that I can use them in appropriate ways. Sharon is a joyful person and my lessons are a high point of the week for me. I highly recommend her.

Luzanna G. from Minneapolis, MN Before I contacted Sharon over the phone, I searched through many names of tutors and what made me contact her was how she opened up and share herself to the public. I believe it is very important for the student to trust even before meeting the tutor - and that's how I felt. Her record says it all. She is very smart. Learning is fun because she has her way to make the subject fun and easy. She shares strategies, which are very helpful in understanding the context of the subject. My preparation for TOEFL is so different from the last time, and I believe that with Sharon's help, I will reach my goal.

Kil Choe W. from Prior Lake, MN My 4-year-old son has really enjoyed spending time with Sharon - she knows just how to interact with him and uses different teaching methods (flash cards, singing songs, chalk on the sidewalk, writing/drawing, cookies with vocabulary words, and using his toys to teach new words, for example) throughout one lesson to address his attention span at this young age. He is always excited when we wake in the morning and I tell him that today is "Sharon Day"! We chose to have 90-minute lessons because Sharon was willing to tutor him in our home. There are times when my son is not participating (90 minutes is a long time for a preschooler) and Sharon recognizes that he needs a break and doesn't force the lesson to continue. At times she will instruct him in Mandarin to run or jump, fast or slow. This is always fun whether we are inside or outside. And the days that she brings treats are very special! I think she goes above and beyond to make sure my son is enjoying the lessons and learning at the same time. One observation I have made during the lessons is that sometimes Sharon is a little quick to give my son the answer to her review questions - I think he just needs a minute to respond as he is thinking about the answer (or is distracted by something in the room or in his thoughts!). It takes a lot of patience to teach a young child and I believe Sharon is definitely up for the challenge on every visit. We've had 7 lessons and my son has learned more than I would have ever expected in such a short time! He loves to share his new words and songs with his cousins, grandparents, and friends. And even though I sit in on every lesson, it is not uncommon for him to correct my pronunciation of a word or provide me with the correct word altogether. We are very sad that her full-time work schedule has changed and as a result, we are unable to continue lessons with Sharon since our schedules don't match any longer. Sharon is a wonderful tutor and we would recommend her to anyone.
