First I ?check in? with the student to see where they are and what they need help with. I am knowledgeable about different learning styles and preferences and if I am able to determine that a particular student is stronger with learning visually rather than verbally, or vice versa, I can alter my tutoring style accordingly. For example, I use drawing pictures and graphs to explain concepts, instead of just describing them verbally. I am patient with students who need repeated explanations of …

Calvin W. from Palo Alto, CA I just completed a course titled Applied Statistics for Psychology. In the beginning I had big fears concerning this course. I was very fortunate to find a tutor close to where I live through WyzAnt, her name is Jennifer B. She really came through for me with flying colors to make it her mission to help me to succeed in this course. Jennifer came to my rescue and into my home twice a week for nine weeks straight, and she is always punctual with our sessions. It was comforting having Jennifer by my side checking my homework, answering my questions, as well as sitting through a whole hour of online seminars discussing applied statistics for psychology each of the nine weeks that she came to my home. I am really impressed with Jennifer due to the fact that she knew all there was to know about statistics and more. It?s one thing to "know your stuff", but effectively explaining it to someone who has questions about it is another thing. Jennifer has great communication skills and does very well at explaining the results of my statistical analysis. Jennifer is very professional, she is patient but firm, polite, smart, helpful, and encouraging. It has been ten weeks and now the course is completed. I received an outstanding "A" for my final grade and I owe a lot of this success to Jennifer's assistance. I am really glad that my first experience with a tutor coming to my home was Jennifer. I will not hesitate to request for Jennifer B. as my next tutor, because she is the best!

Marie S. from San Jose, CA Jennifer was punctual. She taught me more in 2 hours than my Statistics professor taught me in 5 weeks. She explained things in a way that I could understand (I'm a returning student and have never appreciated math). I am working with her again.

Luke P. from Palo Alto, CA I want to start off by saying that I hate math. It's never clicked with me and when it came time to take my statistics class in college before I could transfer to a university, it took me a couple tries. The first two times, I had a really hard time keeping up with the class along with my other classes, and the material was difficult for me to understand. This summer, I enrolled in another statistics class, which thanks to Jennifer was the last one I would ever have to take. The first week of the course, I knew that I needed a tutor to literally walk me through the course. I found Jennifer on WyzAnt and was eager to get started. I must say, every meeting was extremely productive. Jennifer is extremely patient and somehow is able to explain the material in a way that nobody else could, to the point where once I left the session I felt like I had a full understanding of the section or chapter that we were working on. Throughout the course, I spent a lot of time with Jennifer and she's the best - she's funny and extremely intelligent and very dependable. I can't think of taking another math class without having her help. Without her, I honestly do not think I would have passed the course in the fast-paced setting that the summer classes are in. If you're looking for a tutor, Jennifer's the best there is.

Cynthia R. from Mountain View, CA Jennifer is a very good tutor. She helped me catch up in my Statistics class where I was constantly getting F's in my quizzes. While I unfortunately did not pass my class, that was due to hiring her really late in the quarter, just four weeks before the class ended. She did a great job explaining the concepts about the rules in Statistics. She has a very flexible schedule and as long as you clearly lay out what you don't understand, you will be getting your money's worth!

Han N. from Saratoga, CA My kid likes Jennifer a lot. She is very patient and flexible. She is always willing to help and will come to us even in short notice. She explained the problem in detail and always made sure my kid understand it before going on to the next one.

Judy P. from Sunnyvale, CA My son needed to pass Statistics to graduate and go on to a four-year program. Jennifer Brooks was his tutor. At the end of the statistics class he got a "B" which was a big improvement over what he received in the previous attempt. Jennifer was the best tutor among the four math tutors my son used in high school and at community college. Jennifer figured out his learning style and matched her tutoring to exactly what he needed. She helped him with his constant anxiety as well. I can't recommend her highly enough to you! BTW Her rates were extremely reasonable.

Sandy D. from San Carlos, CA Jennifer is very easy to get ahold of (important!). She returns phone calls/emails quickly. She is patient and has helped my son in his Stats class. Though I haven't had too much interaction with her personally, my son likes her and so I would recommend her.

Donna O. from Sunnyvale, CA I think 'tutor' might be a sub par way to describe Jennifer. She's more like gifted teacher. Jennifer is able to diagnose a student's situation quickly, make recommendations to him or her, and work with the student to achieve a goal together. She offered great encouragement to our son, who's in 10th grade/ He struggles in his writing and I think the lesson review with him really helped him understand the paper he was writing and a better way to organize his thoughts. We're looking forward to more 'classes' for our son with Jennifer.

Itzel H. from Mountain View, CA Jennifer was very easy to get along with. She explained things well and helped me understand topics that I didn't understand from my teacher. She is very knowledgeable in math so she was able to help me raise my statistics test scores. Also, her calculator skills were great help to me since we used it a lot for the problems in class. I would recommend Jennifer to anyone who has trouble understanding math because she finds ways to teach you according to your learning style. I'm a visual learner so she drew examples of the problems and it helped me really fully understand what needed to be done. Thanks Jennifer!
