What Pixar Movie Should You and Your Child Watch this Weekend?

Watching a good movie with your child is one of the more relaxing ways you can bond with them, and Pixar movies have long been the go-to flicks for families. Their plots are brilliant, keeping both young and old interested and glued to their seats. If you’re looking to enjoy a Pixar film this weekend, give one of these a try.

Toy Story

Even though, according to CashLady, Disney films have an edge over Pixar, Disney can’t say that they have one of the best trilogies of all time. Toy Story is considered by some to be as good as the Godfather, so if you haven’t seen one of them in a while, you should give them a try. When they came out, the original Toy Story reinvigorated animation, with a brilliant cast (including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Don Rickles) and innovative techniques. Toy Story tells the tale of Woody, a traditional pull-string talking cowboy, who feels he is getting replaced by Buzz Lightyear, the new toy on the block. If you watch the movie series the whole way through, be prepared for a lot of emotion and for your child to start making the most of their toys.

Finding Nemo

If your child loves animals and you’ve exhausted other animal activities, Finding Nemo is sure to capture their attention. The story involves a baby clownfish who strays too far from his dad and gets captured by a scuba diver to be put in an aquarium. He is the only child of his desperate father, who searches the ocean for his son, meeting many interesting characters along the way. Starring Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, Alexander Gould and Willem Dafoe, Finding Nemo is heartfelt, humorous and memorable, something that your child won’t forget for a long time. It also teaches them the importance of not straying too far by themselves.

Up

Up is an exciting adventure, where a young boy and an old man explore beautiful and dangerous wildernesses in the old man’s ‘flying’ house. It’s a brilliantly crafted story, one that will probably make you feel like crying within the first 10 minutes thanks to its poignant and deep character development. Up teaches children that there is often more than meets the eye to people, as well as the importance of tenacity and teamwork. It will grip both you and your child.

Coco

Coco tells the story of Miguel (voiced by Anthony Gonzalez), who wants to be a famous musician like his hero Ernesto de la Cruz (voiced by Benjamin Bratt). There’s only one problem for Miguel – his family has a ban on music that goes back generations. This doesn’t stop Miguel, though, who tries to prove his talent and finds himself in the beautifully colorful Land of the Dead. He meets some friends along the way and they uncover the real reason that Miguel’s family isn’t allowed to listen to or play music. Critics have lauded it as “superbly polished” and a “technically flawless family film that makes you cry”. IMDB rates it 8.4 stars.
