Hi there! I am a 25 year old menswear clothing designer living in Brooklyn. I began my working childcare experience at age 12 when I was a mothers helper to a 8 month old. I went on to babysit this baby and his two siblings (6 y/o girl, 8 y/o boy) until I was about 17 years old! I went on to work as a lifeguard from the age 16-20, certified yearly in CPR, AED, and First Aid. I also had a background check and fingerprinting completed in 2018. During those years I completed many saves, from young children to full grown adult men, and my last year taught swim lessons for ages 4-6. Originally the youngest of three, at age 10, I got a younger brother! Growing up in a low income household, I helped my parents raise him, and so have been there firsthand during all the phases of him becoming a person. I have since had infrequent other miscellaneous babysitting and caretaking experiences, but these feel significant as foundational understanding in how I look after kids.
Since I started working young, I tend to have the most fun having FUN with kids! Playing games, making puzzles, doing arts and crafts, playing sports, putting on plays, board games, going on excursions, video games whatever! Its important to me that the kid or kids Im caring for feel comfortable being silly and creative and unselfconscious with me, with the underlying understanding to respect me and elders for things that are bigger than them. I pride myself in my gentle, emotionally intelligent, and diplomatic communication skills.
I spent my formative elementary years at a Waldorf school, and grew up in a media-limited (though not media free) household, and am completely open and encouraging to any parental preferences you might want to be emulating in your house even when you are not gone.
I am available and flexible for most days, am fully licensed to drive but do not have a car, and am happy watching up to 3 kids at a time.
While I am in no means fluent in Spanish, I used to be a strong communicator. My skills gave definitely lapsed, but honestly I would LOVE the opportunity for it to be revived, as I sorely miss it.
