Hi all! My name is Kate and I have worked in the special education field for 3 years and am currently getting my masters in art therapy.
I was formerly a preschool teacher, art teacher, camp counselor, full-time nanny and have babysat children ages 4 months – 12 years old for 10+ years. I love being creative, being outside, and making people laugh. With children, I like to teach imaginative play skills and how to fully express themselves creatively. I am also a big proponent of outside exploration and play. I have extensive knowledge on child development as well as play focused education (I am also familiar with other models such as montessori). I have experience and am also trained in bed/time routine methods, potty training, and feeding programs. I am very flexible, patient, and compassionate when working with children and families. I am always open to feedback of any kind, my priority is giving your child the best experience I can. Some other things I also like to do is teaching children about gardening, the solar system, sea life, etc. My passion is working in this field and I after my graduate degree I hope to become an art therapist for neurotypical children, as well as neurodivergent children and adults.

My total experience with children and adults with disabilities is 7 years. I am trained in CPI intervention methods, I was a teacher for adults and children on the spectrum teaching them daily life skills. I have training in feeding programs, bathroom programs, ambulance in the community programs, as well as assisting with fine motor and gross motor disabilities. With my training, I am also experienced with AAC devices or other methods when working with people who are non-verbal. I am very flexible with what families ask of me and what methods they prefer me to use when working their loved ones.
