I am currently a junior at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Ive always loved working with children. I have been working with kids since I was 16. I feel like the key with working with kids is patience and safety. You cant take care of kids well if you dont have patience and dont keep the kids safe then it wont be any fun for anyone. I learned that quickly when I started my first babysitting job, children need to feel safe and confortable in their environment in order to have a good time in your care. All kids are different, so adjust as you work and see how the kids are but its always good to be respectful when disciplining, when its needed of course, its good to be firm but show you care for them so it doesnt seem like youre angry with them because otherwise kids might not react well. Its always good to take a genuine interest in the child so they can bond with you. Kids need lots of attention, it always important to give all your attention I feel to ensure that they know youre actually getting to know them and care for them.
