Salsabeel A.

Hi! My name is Salsabeel but you can just call me Salsa for short. I’m 22 and I am currently a long term substitute teacher in Clifton, NJ for a second grade special education inclusion class (I work with multiple students with disabilities as well as general education students) but I have worked at pre-schools previously where I worked with children ages 2-5. I currently have no children of my own, but I babysit my 3 year old niece during the week in my free time. I love children and I’m working on getting my certification to become an elementary school teacher within the district I’m currently in instead of being a substitute this summer. I’m also currently in school but am graduating this May (2025) with a bachelor’s in Psychology, in which I’ve taken courses like Child Psychology, Social Psychology, Perception, as well Behavioral Psychology.

I also love to make art! I’ve been drawing ever since I can remember and I can practice on any medium available to me. If it’s something you’re looking for, I’m a great candidate for a child who aspires to become an artist as I can push them to pursue their dreams and also making play-time fun with creative activities.

I also have beginner’s knowledge on playing the tenor saxophone as I played for 5 years in the past.

I also am very in tune with the times in terms of any video games and mainstream media that are out and with children who are a little older, I find that while most of the time they have a set time limit on screen time, talking about their favorite games and movies/tv shows helps create a more comfortable environment and allows the child(ren) to express their likes and dislikes. It also promotes opinion and debate, a skill in which I teach my second graders to improve!
