Hi there!

I am a recent graduate of college in New York City. Outside of my academics, I practice illustration and garment design.

During COVID-19 I watched a pod of 4 (and occasionally their younger siblings as well) 6-8 year olds. They had never really experienced school before, so we had to work on listening over Zoom, why “learning is important” and the emotional responses to being home, with minimal social experiences. I prepared lunches for the group, and additionally taught them some Spanish (I am not fluent, but have an intermediate knowledge of the language). Occasionally, I was a nighttime babysitter for these families. We thought of games to make lessons more interesting, and made sure to read for at least part of the day.

Last year, I worked a high school student with ADHD and depression with executive functioning and study habits in order to improve his grades in time for college applications.

I try to be an active listener, a calming presence, and a fun person in the kids’ lives. I think that any event is an educational opportunitiy, whether the child is in elementary school or the teen is in middle/high school. I love this job because it teaches me how people develop and learn for themselves.
