My teaching philosophy is centered around the importance of building relationships with students. This has taken even more importance in my practice throughout these three years teaching through the Covid-19 pandemic. I quickly recognized that students have a lot more on their plate than what they let on. They bring so much of their lives into the classroom. This was exacerbated through the challenges of navigating the Covid-19 pandemic. Students did not feel connected. I needed a way to reset and refocus. I was reminded why I want to be in the classroom; for the connections and relationships. It became very important to me through daily routines or built-in moments, to check-in with students on how they are doing both in and out of school. This not only paved the way for better communication between myself and the students, it also reiterated my respect for them and understanding of their experiences. I used it as a way to show them how much I valued them as individuals. In turn, I saw a positive impact on my students in their communication with me in and out of class, along with their engagement during class time and growth in learning. That is what kept me going.I am there to be their cheerleader. This is the foundation of my philosophy as an educator, and who I am as a person. As I continue teaching, I hope to discover more of what leads me to connect with students. Knowing what drives me in my teaching will allow me to bring my best to my classroom each and every day.

In my few years in education I have been involved in the school communities. Whether it is coaching, sponsoring an organization, chaperoning and more, I would love to lend my abilities and enthusiasm to your family.
