Hi! My name is Emerald and to begin a little about myself, I am a career nanny and have been for over 10 years. I am very loyal and committed to the families I take care of. My ultimate goal is to have my own day care!
I have taught a Youth Fitness program at the YMCA in La Canada for four years swhen I was 16. I was responsible for creating my own class based on physical and fun activitiy! I was also a camp counselor during the summers and loved working in the Rainbow camp which was specifically for the toddlers.
My first professional nanny experience was to take on the huge responsibility of taking care of a teenage girl with autism. Although it was challenging, I looked after her for a couple of years until our schedules and needs changed. My work with her grew into a love for helping challenged children and turned my career path into occupational therapy.
I have been a nanny for a family with two school aged children and have been with them since they were both in preschool. (7+ years) These kids have become a huge part of my life and I am proud to say I have also became a part of their family :) During the week when I am not nannying, as well as on the weekends, I babysit for a few other families that I have met through Sittercity as well. It is a phenomenal privilege to be given to take care and look after other people’s children. Having no children of my own just yet, I get the chance to grow with these kids and see them develop into themselves throughout the years. As a role model and huge influence for children, I find great responsibility and sense of pride in teaching kids how to conduct themselves with openess, respect and kindness.
I have a special way with children that allows me to earn their admiration and trust quickly. Like I mentioned, my passion has always been children and it clearly shows by the bonds and friendships I have built through the years with the families that I care for.
I am not afraid to get down and dirty, playing all sorts of games and being creative. In fact, I prefer it! I am definitely not the babysitter who likes to sit down and watch tv all night long, although I do enjoy watching Disney movies, being in front of the tube is not my ideal babysitting gig. I love to make forts, and play hide and seek!!
