Hi, I’m Brooke! I am fairly new to the world of childcare, but I absolutely love working with kids. So far, I have had one paid tutoring job for a 4th grader, but I’ve had voluntary and non-paid experience working hands-on with kids for about four years. During my high school years, I took many early childhood education classes, most of which were college-accredited. The first was a Birth-Three Lab class, in which parents brought in their children ages zero to three to our school. The older students, then, had the opportunity to demonstrate lesson plans and engage in play with the kids. I also took two semesters of a Pre-K Lab, which was the same format as the Birth-Three class, but with more extensive lesson plans and hands-on experiences with children ages 3-5. This lab was a college-accredited course. I also took an Early College Experience Human Development course, in which we learned about the human life cycle and had an opportunity to intern in a school. I interned in a 2nd grade classroom at Flanders Elementary School, in East Lyme, Connecticut, working with children who had more difficulty in grasping the material and needed one-on-one help. I also interned at an after-school education program, the Family Tree Enrichment Program, based in Warwick, Rhode Island, over one summer. There, I helped kids ages 6-12 script and produce an original theater production for their End of Summer Showcase. I recently became CPR / AED / First Aid certified through the National CPR Foundation. I also have earned an Advanced Child Care Training Certificate through the American Red Cross. Please reach out if you are interested in my help to support and care for your little ones!
