My name is Mira Kaplan and I am 20 years old attending the University of Pennsylvania. I have been babysitting since I was fourteen and have much experience sitting kids ranging from babies to twelve/thirteen year olds. I sit for the same several families who live in my neighborhood in Somerville, MA every summer and break I return from school. Through these consistent jobs I have proved my own consistency both in communication and in these kids lives. Last year I attended Barnard College in Manhattan and was an official Barnard Babysitter of the Barnard Babysitting Agency. Like Smartsitting, the agency connected me to families in New York City and I demonstrated my communication skills, prompt responses, and reliability in each job I took on. Two summers ago, I was a camp counselor at Camp Ramah in New England, a sleep away summer camp in Massachusetts. My co-counselor and I were counselors for a bunk of 20 girls entering eighth grade. As demonstrated, I have a range of experience and am prepared and excited to meet new kids and families. I especially love establishing a bond with the family as a whole and believe communication with the parents/guardians is essential. At the University of Pennsylvania, I applied and was selected to become a member of the organization Citystep, a student-run community service organization in which members teach dance to kids in the West Philadelphia schools. Consistency on our part was absolutely vital as we served as mentors to these kids and they depended on us. Through all my experience working with children, I have learned just how important consistency in a childs life is. I am prepared to be consistent, punctual, and communicative just as I have been in the past.
