I have 24 years of childcare experience. I started babysitting at age 15 and at 16 I became a counselor in training for 8 – 12 year olds. From 18 years old and onward, I have spent 8 summers as a counselor and activity leader, in multiple overnight camps. I have worked as a teachers assistant in a daycare and have direct experience working with neurodivergent kiddos, from toddler age to teenagers. As a once neurodivergent child and now an adult, I also have lived experience of what it takes to learn the emotional and physical capacity one has after specific tasks, environments or engagements. Understanding each child’s specific needs and level of safety is a responsibility I take with high regard. In exploring their personal boundaries about individual needs, I have experienced first hand how heard and seen they feel.
Whether it is body doubling on tasks, building things from scratch or breaking down emotions and thoughts, the approach I bring is collaborative and compassionate at its core.

I find that in taking time to understand how the four elements show up in our daily lives, kiddos tend to take on challenges with more enthusiasm and less restriction. This allows us to start our connection with a deep understanding of who we all are and what we are building together, whether short or long in length of time.

The specific skill that I bring to childcare work is cultivating a safe sensory experience, through the lens of neurodiversity ;
acknowledging burnout, overwhelm, shutdown, the need to stim, lose the ability to speak aloud or make direct use of eye contact.
This allows us both to feel more free to be exactly who we are and should be, fully unmasked and ready to explore in a regulated way.
I am highly attuned to a divergence of the child’s norm and when they seem bothered by change or changing behavior rapidly.

I have a long work history of childcare work I feel proud of. Ranging from infants to twenty three years of age. I am well equipped to take on meals, cleaning, organizing, facilitating art programs and just being there for you and your loved ones.
