I’m Nicole Rodriguez, a dedicated caretaker with experience across all age groupsfrom toddlers to teenagers. While I currently teach U.S. History and English to immigrant high school students at International High School, my teaching journey began in early childhood development.

My hands-on experience with young learners includes a year as a nanny for two vibrant girls (ages 5-6), where I designed engaging activities to entertain them after pick up from school. Occasionally, I also helped with bedtime. I also worked as a teacher assistant at the New York Center for Infants and Toddlers, collaborating with therapists to help 2-year-olds reach developmental milestones. At Denizko Daycare, I assisted K-6 students during the challenging transition to online learning, creating individualized routines to boost their confidence and academic skills.

These early childhood experiences taught me that the foundation of great teaching is the same at any age: patience, creativity, and meeting learners where they are. I pursued my Master’s in Teaching at Columbia University (with dual certification in TESOL and Social Studies), I bring this holistic perspective to my work with adolescent immigrantswhether I’m co-teaching U.S. History or designing units on social justice.

Fluent in Spanish and deeply committed to equitable education, I believe every learning momentfrom a toddler’s first words to a teen’s breakthrough essayshapes futures.
