Eastover CARES. Community Acceptance Respect Excellence and Service encompass Eastover’s theme for 2005-2006. Eastover is a community of learners that reaches beyond the traditional definition of school and extends into the realm of family. The relationship that exists between staff children and parents is unique and envied by other institutions. Respect for our diverse population for academic discipline for self for others and for property provides the framework of Eastover. Academic excellence in a caring environment leads to optimum learning for children and adults. Service to others and our community reflects the basic decency and goodness that exists in each of us.
Eastover is a school the CARES and will continue to CARE throughout the next millennium; for the children our most precious resource of the 20th century will continue to be our most precious resource of the 21st century.
Academic thoroughness administered in a caring environment includes the following subjects: math; science; language arts which is reading writing and spelling; social studies; Spanish; computer studies; art; physical education and music. Eastover combines academic knowledge with life skills to create the focus for instruction. The first component focuses on academic skills and the acquisition of knowledge in all subject areas. The second component incorporates life skills that include areas such as critical thinking problem-solving communication cooperation and responsible citizenship. These are not taught in isolation; lesson plans focus on incorporating them into subject areas. The combination of these two components provides students the opportunity to excel in academic areas and to develop skills that help prepare them for life and career responsibilities.
