Canandaigua YMCA Elementary School

The Canandaigua Elementary School (grades 3-5) provides a supportive approach to education as students are taught a rigorous curriculum in a nurturing environment.

A full range of special programs complement the core academic instruction including: computer art library music and physical education. Instruction is differentiated in the classroom to meet the needs of all students and Academic Intervention Services are provided for students who require additional support in reading and/or math. Enrichment is offered to all students using a targeted model which begins with Level 1 activities for all students to Level 4 activities for specialized needs. Many teachers are trained in the Responsive Classroom approach helping to create a caring environment directly aligned with the District’s Character Education initiative. This facility is authorized to administer medications
