Center in Carbondale, IL 62903
The Carbondale Park District established the Alice Wright Early Childhood Center in the belief that a wide variety of social and educational experiences provide needed stimuli in the growth of a child’s mind and character. A child care center which is professional and child oriented offers an environment of love and acceptance; objectives that the child can successfully handle; social situations into which s/he can learn to adapt comfortably; provide new experiences that enable s/he to grow emotionally, socially, physically and intellectually. A successful child care accomplishes these through familiar daily activities and educational experiences developed with children in mind. A child care situation brings together children of many varied backgrounds and learning experiences, teaching the child how to cooperate and work together at an early age.
This is a very important learned skill, as well as an important aspect of character development. The child who has experienced success in a child care program, such as ours, can move out into the larger world of school and community with many developed social and educational skills and increased self confidence.
