Happy House Nursery

The Happy House Nursery and Pre-K has a rich history with the Elmira community. We have provided high quality programs in this geographic area for 30 plus years. We serve children 3 to 5 years of age. We have been located at First Presbyterian Church since 1984. In the 30 plus years of operation the Happy House Nursery has successfully educated approximately 3500 students. Many of our graduates have returned with their own children.

We have enrolled children in our classes whose families have transferred to Elmira arriving with limited English proficiency. We have helped their parents prepare word lists in both English and their native language; 1:1 help utilizing aides/volunteers and have directed them to community agencies and clubs that could help them reach proficiency in English. E.g. White Eagles. We also try to learn their language an adventure for all! We have welcomed children from Turkey Poland Sweden China Japan Vietnam and India. Also available through the use of technology are web sites offering assistance to the teaching staff and parents.

In the Fall of 2006 Happy House was very pleased to open a satellite program in the First United Methodist Church in Horseheads. This facility is authorized to administer over-the-counter topical ointments only
