At Love to Learn Children’s Center we view discipline as an opportunity to teach. We achieve this through love, consistency and firmness. All children are explained the rules of the facility frequently so they know the behavior guidelines. Once a child understands the rule and disobeys them, hurts other or destroys property, the following developmentally appropriate guidance techniques shall be used;1. Positive Reinforcement: The child will be encouraged to and praised when he/she is demonstrating acceptable behavior.;2. Redirection: The child is directed to another activity and given an opportunity to try again at another time.;3. Time-out: The child is separated from the group for a period of time (1 minute for each year of age). Time outs are used only when a child is exhibiting temper tantrum type behavior or hurting themselves, others or equipment. When the child shows that he/she is ready to demonstrate acceptable behavior, they are encouraged to join the rest of the group and try again.;** Of course, depending on the age of the child, some of these policies may work better than others. It will be left up to our knowledgeable staff to use what will work the best. At no time will privileges, food or special loveys be taken away for unacceptable behavior.
