The Team believes that reading is the most important skill that a child can learn. Multiple measures of student academic achievement are used to identify students who may need Academic Intervention Services. These measures include: universal screening teacher observations parent input grades and performance on state assessments. Academic Intervention Services may include: direct instruction in a small group re-teaching pre-teaching and/or implementation of an alternative instructional program.
Students at Germantown Elementary School receive instruction in English language arts mathematics science social studies and health in their classroom. Students go to special classrooms for instruction in physical education music art computer and library skills. Character education is embedded in the variety of social programs that are implemented at each grade level by the schools counseling team.
