In Rush-Henrietta we embrace our differences and grow stronger as a school district and community as a result. Our school district continues to recognize that with diversity also is the responsibility to support all students providing a culturally responsive education. In the book “Culturally Responsive Teaching: Theory Research and Practice” author Geneva Gay defines culturally responsive teaching as using the cultural knowledge prior experiences and performance styles of diverse students to make learning more appropriate and effective for them; it teaches them to and through the strengths of these students.

Each year the Rush-Henrietta Board of Education adopts district priorities to guide student success. These priorities focus on improving school and district capacities in key result areas that support high student achievement and performance. In the 2010-2011 District Priorities there is a major emphasis on differentiation of instruction to support all learners including an increased emphasis on the use of differentiated approaches centers and continued support from instructional coaches to strengthen instructional practices and methods.
