Center in Houston, TX 77020
The Parenting Education Program (PEP) a Houston Independent School District (HISD) collaboration allows students with children access to free child care and parenting classes in support of the completion of their education. This program is located at the HISD Kay Ongoing campus. The YWCA Houston fills the gap in affordable childcare particularly for families who are transitioning into the workplace. We feel we are assisting in renewed economic empowerment by helping families avoid the choice between childcare and working or the completion of education.
As a part of the village the YWCA Houston Children Services strive to support the developmental social and educational needs of our most valued resource. Current programs begin with infant and toddler care leading into preschool and school age needs. The YWCA/Field Learning Center offers participants the opportunity to remain in a stable environment from 6 months to Kindergarten. Field hosts infant and toddler care; Bright Beginnings a United Way/ExxonMobil sponsored development program and preschool all in succession leading to a positive comfortable transition into the classroom. YWCA Field Learning Center was awarded the Four Star Vendor rating from the Collaborative for Children in 2005.
