It is my pleasure to welcome you and your family to daVinci Primary School which is a non-graded multi-age school serving students from Kindergarten through the end of middle school. I am excited you are here and look forward to the opportunity to serve you and your family. My goal is to provide your daVinci Primary student with a learning environment that is caring respectable and educationally aligned with his/her specific educational needs. Doing what is best for all kids is our number one goal. We have excellent teachers and support staff committed to providing a nurturing climate that promotes and encourages the growth of all children.

The curriculum at the da Vinci Institute is designed to encourage all students to share in the responsibility for making choices that will facilitate the learning process. da Vinci believes that all children learn that children learn in different ways and that this process occurs at different times for different children. Most importantly da Vinci believes that childhood should be a journeynot a race.
Emphasis at The da Vinci Institute is placed on the mastery of essential learning and skills. A variety of assessment methods are utilized on a frequent basis to evaluate students’ progress and determine how best to help students become well-educated citizens. Kim Norton is the da Vinci Curriculum Director. Kim was formerly the Primary School Principal and has served da Vinci since the school first opened. Her primay role is to monitor curriculum and assessment and offer teacher support with curriculum development. Our students are assessed annually with the MEAP EdPerformance Series STAR Math and various classroom assessments. Our students in Levels One and Two are also assessed with Michigan Literacy Progress Profile (MLPP) and the Boehm Language Screening Tool. We screen all students for motor skill deficiencies with the Project First Step Screening. In addition a variety of pre-learning assessments and trainings are offered to any student who is struggling to be successful in the classroom.
