Center in Liverpool, NY 13088
County North Childrens Center was founded in 1972 as West Genesee Childrens Center. The Center was developed by a group of schoolteachers and community members who wanted a safe healthy learning environment for their children.
Recognizing the growth of young families in the Northern suburbs of Syracuse and the lack of child care there the Center moved to Liverpool in 1980. We changed its name to County North Childrens Center. For five years it operated sites in Liverpool as well as Radisson providing care to many children and families.
Needing a larger facility CNCC moved to the Town of Salina building in November 1984. The Town building is a former elementary school renovated for community use. Now renting 7 large classrooms and office space from the Town of Salina CNCC serves over 80 families annually from the Salina-Clay-Baldwinsville area. We remain the only non-profit childcare center in this area.
In 1992 the Board and Directors made a commitment to achieve Accreditation from the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs. We solicited the necessary materials and started the detailed self-assessment process. We received our first Accreditation in 1996 and have maintained accreditation since then. In May 2001 we were re-accredited with the new NAEYC standards and guidelines. NAEYC Accreditation meets a national standard of staff-child interaction health and safety standards.
We are pleased that we have been able to provide over thirty wonderful years of care in our community. This facility is authorized to administer medications
