YMCA of Long Island-Lockhart School

The Raymond J. Lockhart School is an integral part of the community. Students are invited to discover invent experiment and dream in our child-centered classrooms. Technology is infused throughout the curriculum and there is a strong emphasis on literacy and reading. New York State Standards are evident throughout the school. Our children also participate in a character education program that was carefully developed by our site-based team. Children participate in recycling efforts feeding the hungry and developing a core of respect for themselves each other and the environment.

In addition to our core curriculum students receive specialized instruction in physical education art music library and technology. Extracurricular clubs for drama music journalism and more are also offered. It is our goal to give our students a love of learning and the thirst for knowledge.
