The Luis Belliard School opened in 1995 and the schools collaboration with The Childrens Aid Society began in 1996 thus becoming a full-service community school that supports learning and achievement for the entire family.
The strategy includes After School Saturday Holiday and Summer Programs; Medical Dental Mental Health and Preventive Services; Emergency Relief is available through the New York Times Neediest Fund; 0-to-4 education that includes Head Start Early Head Start and programs for pregnant women. One of the partnership highlights is the Parent Family and Community Engagement and Development Program which offers opportunities such as a Family Resource Room vocational and educational trainings adult education advocacy and leadership opportunities.
The school was named after Luis Belliard a Dominican community resident who was an architect by trade and a political activist and education advocate by passion. He died at a young age but his fierce dedication to protecting the rights of children will always be remembered. This facility is authorized to administer medications
