Westside YMCA Co-op Nursery School

The West Side YMCA Co-op Nursery School was founded in 1964 by a group of Upper West Side parents the Co-op Nursery School is now a partnership between the YMCA and the families. It provides an opportunity for greater involvement in your childs first school experience. Our parents participate in the classroom on a regular basis and they see the curriculum develop watch children interact and gain a real perspective into the work of the teachers. Since young children learn through play our classrooms and curriculum emphasize hands-on open-ended play so that children will develop as individual thinkers and co-operative group members. As a part of the West Side YMCA the Co-op Nursery School is committed to a multi-cultural program that encourages children to grow as individuals and become sensitive and responsive to others in small and large groups.
